Carrier Oils

Section Subtitle

Argan Oil
Argan oil is renowned for its healing properties, including antioxidants and anti-inflammatory effects, which can help alleviate symptoms of skin conditions like psoriasis and rosacea. Applying pure argan oil directly to affected skin patches can yield optimal results. Beneficial for skin and overall health, it treats dryness, minor burns, inflammation, dermatitis, and signs of aging. Originating from Morocco, argan oil contains omega fatty acids, vitamin E, and linoleic acids that hydrate and soften dry areas. While generally well-tolerated, those with argan oil allergies may experience rashes or irritation, and some individuals may encounter breakouts despite its non-comedogenic nature, meaning it won't clog pores.

Castor Oil
Castor oil is celebrated for its moisturizing properties due to its fatty acids, commonly found in various beauty products. It can be used in its pure form, free of additives, but it's advisable to dilute it with a neutral oil to avoid skin irritation. While it is considered a good facial moisturizer, there is no conclusive evidence on its efficacy for treating skin conditions like acne. Always perform a patch test and dilute it with a carrier oil like olive oil before applying. Using castor oil on the face daily can provide antibacterial benefits, removing bacteria that may lead to acne. Its anti-inflammatory properties reduce redness and swelling, and it can soothe the skin post-sun exposure. Leaving castor oil on the face overnight allows it to deeply hydrate and nourish the skin.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil
Jamaican Black Castor Oil is a versatile solution that addresses various concerns. It is believed to combat infections, reduce scars, regulate sebum production, heal chapped lips, and combat premature aging. It also has purifying properties, drawing out impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oils without blocking pores. Applying castor oil to your belly button offers benefits like pain relief, digestive support, improved skin and hair, immune system boost, detox assistance, and enhanced relaxation for better sleep. It can also brighten dark spots and improve overall skin appearance due to its blend of fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins.

Sweet Almond Oil
Rich in Vitamin A & E, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, and Zinc, Sweet Almond Oil cleanses, removes makeup, reduces puffiness and dark circles, enhances complexion and skin tone, treats dryness and acne, reverses sun damage, and minimizes scars and stretch marks. Note: It may clog pores, be harsh for sensitive skin, and trigger allergies in those with nut allergies.

Fractionated Coconut Oil
Fractionated Coconut Oil moisturizes and soothes conditions like eczema, fights inflammation caused by UVB rays, aids in wound healing, and has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. It protects the skin, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, calms redness, provides antioxidants, absorbs easily, and works well as an exfoliant.

Grapeseed Oil
Grapeseed oil manages acne, lightens scars, protects against radicals, moisturizes, balances skin, absorbs easily, minimizes wrinkles, and evens skin tone. Containing Vitamin E, it reduces inflammation and hydrates the skin, plumping lines. Research shows its antioxidants can fade scars and pigmentation by boosting collagen. Its antimicrobial properties can help with acne, although more research is needed. Grapeseed oil is non-comedogenic and suitable for sensitive skin but may cause irritation in some cases. Regular use can reduce pigmentation and prevent new dark spots.

Hemp Seed Oil
Hemp oil helps balance oily skin, moisturizes without clogging pores, and has anti-inflammatory properties. It's beneficial for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, promotes new skin cell generation, and is rich in nutrients and antioxidants. While rare, it may cause sleepiness, bloodshot eyes, or liver issues in children. Those allergic to cannabis may also be allergic to hemp. Conduct a patch test before leaving it on overnight, especially for sensitive skin. Hemp oil rejuvenates and nourishes dry skin, maintains moisture, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and can promote hair regrowth.

Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil has multiple benefits for skin and hair. It moisturizes without clogging pores, softens rough cuticles, heals dry skin, relieves sunburns, and boosts skin glow. It is non-comedogenic and can remove makeup. For hair, it prevents split ends and may promote hair growth. Jojoba oil is similar to human skin sebum, making it an excellent skin softener that improves skin elasticity and hydration. It's generally safe for most people when applied topically but can cause rash or allergic reactions in some. Avoid taking it orally as it may have adverse effects like heart damage. Jojoba oil can boost collagen production, combat fine lines and wrinkles, fade stretch marks and scars, and soothe chapped lips.

Vitamin E Oil
Vitamin E oil moisturizes skin, aids wound healing, and prevents skin irritations like itching, eczema, and psoriasis. It reduces the appearance of scars, fine lines, and wrinkles by boosting collagen production and protecting against oxidative stress. Applying it as a thin layer is recommended to check for skin sensitivity. Pairing it with vitamin C may even out skin tone. Using it overnight can benefit dry skin without side effects in most cases. However, people with bleeding disorders or heart disease should avoid vitamin E supplements. Its antioxidant properties also support a healthy scalp and hair growth by reducing oxidative stress on hair follicle cells.

*Always conduct a patch test and review product ingredients before applying. Carrier and Essential Oils may cause reactions, so cease use if irritation occurs and seek medical help if necessary. For relief, try a mild Carrier Oil like Coconut or Olive Oil on a soft cloth. If you prefer other oils, contact us for alternatives.

*For photosensitive oils, see below.

Photosensitive essential oils can cause skin reactions when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, such as sunlight or tanning beds. These reactions may include redness, inflammation, blistering, or increased sensitivity to sunlight. It's crucial to use photosensitive oils cautiously and avoid sun exposure for at least 12-18 hours after application.

Here are some common photosensitive essential oils:

  1. Lime: Known for its refreshing citrus scent, lime oil is photosensitive and can cause skin irritation or burning if exposed to sunlight after application.

  2. Bergamot: This citrus oil is highly photosensitive and can cause severe skin reactions when exposed to sunlight. It's often used in perfumes and skin care products but should be used with caution.

  3. Grapefruit: Another citrus oil with photosensitive properties, grapefruit oil can cause skin reactions if not used properly. It's known for its uplifting aroma and is used in aromatherapy and skincare.

  4. Lemon: Lemon oil is photosensitive and can cause skin irritation or discoloration when exposed to sunlight. It's popular for its bright, citrusy scent and is used in cleaning products, skincare, and aromatherapy.

  5. Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium): Also known as Seville orange or neroli oil, this citrus oil can be photosensitive and should be used cautiously in skincare products.

*When using photosensitive essential oils, always dilute them properly in carrier oils before applying to the skin. Avoid applying them before sun exposure, and if using them in leave-on products like lotions or perfumes, ensure they are used in low concentrations and applied at times when sun exposure is minimal.
